Binghamton University Robotics Team

CubeMars is thrilled to announce our sponsorship of the Binghamton University Robotics Team for their participation in the 2024 University Rover Challenge (URC), hosted by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). URC is an international robotics competition aimed at encouraging college students to apply their science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) knowledge to design, build, and operate robots for Mars exploration.

The Binghamton University Robotics Team will be taking their 2024 rover to this exciting challenge. Over the past year, the team has undergone rigorous training and team building, with their six sub-teams conducting extensive research and beginning the design of their rover. Based on the successful model from last year's competition, the rover has been further improved and optimized.

The team has made several enhancements to the rover, including an upgraded welded walker boogie chassis, custom 3D printed wheels, and brushless motors. The rover's design considers the diverse and challenging Martian environment, ensuring excellent maneuverability and stability.

Additionally, the rover is equipped with various scientific instruments, including a robotic arm and an environmental analysis system for surface sampling and underground detection. The team has achieved autonomous navigation using high-precision GPS and IMU, as well as a RealSense camera, to complete various tasks.
