What is Formula Student

Formula Student (FS) is one of the most prestigious engineering competitions worldwide, challenging university teams to design, build, and race their own high-performance vehicles. The competition tests not only technical skills but also innovation, efficiency, and sustainability, making it a key platform for young engineers to showcase their talent. CubeMars has long supported Formula Student, especially in the Driverless category, with many teams choosing CubeMars motors for steering in autonomous vehicles.

Chalmers Formula Student

This year, the Chalmers University Formula Student team achieved a remarkable victory as Formula Student Germany Overall Driverless Cup Champions! Impressively, 97% of their car design and production was in-house, showcasing their strong engineering capabilities.

For this competition, they developed a brand-new fully electric autonomous race car, SVEA. According to the team, the AK10-9 V3.0 KV60 motor was at the heart of their autonomous driving system, powering the steering mechanism to enable fast and precise control:

“The AK10-9 V3.0 is the core of our autonomous system, allowing us to steer the car precisely and quickly, ensuring we follow the planned trajectory accurately while driving the track at high speed with confidence.”

Why Choose CubeMars AK10-9 V3.0 KV60

In autonomous racing, the steering motor is critical for vehicle dynamics. The AK10-9 provides high torque density and rapid response, enabling the autonomous control system to adjust steering in real time. This ensures accurate trajectory tracking, stability, and safety at high speeds. With CubeMars’ high-performance motor, the Chalmers team fully leveraged their in-house algorithms and control systems, delivering exceptional handling and race-winning performance.
